I was kind of hesitant to try out Valkyria chronicles. I liked X-com and Valkyria chronicles was a similar strategy game, but I just didn't like the anime theming of the game. Even so, I eventually got around to playing it. And I'm glad I did. I ended up really liking the game, despite the anime theme. In some ways I even prefer it to X-com. Since I liked the game so much, I wanted to build something from it. I chose the main characters tank, the Edelweiss. The Edelweiss is not based on any real tank. It has design elements taken from real tanks mixed up in it's design, But it really doesnt resemble any tank that closely. That would mean, that I would have to scratch build a lot for this project. So far, this one has the most extensive scratch building of any of my projects. Aside from the turret, everything above the treads is scratch built. This was also my first time building a tank. Im more familiar with planes, so I didn't instantly know which kit would be a good base for this build. I eventually chose Tamiyas 1/35 Walker bulldog as a base. It seemed to have a somewhat appropriate shape. I started cutting it up and adding in the scratch built parts. The progress was slow, it was my first tank and my most extensive scratch building project so far. On top of the styrene plate, I also used strings and modelling clay for this project, I used them for the ropes and bags. I also put in LEDs in the kit to simulate the glow on the radiator as seen in the game. The LEDs fit in easily, there was basically enough room for the whole power plant inside the tank. I painted on the three tone camo scheme and added some custom printed decals. Then I painted on the edelweiss to the side of the turret and gave it the last clear coat. The tank isn't a perfect copy of what you'd see in the game, but that is to be expected from a kitbash.

Pictures from the build
This was a lengthy building process. I started in the autumm of 2019 and finished in early 2020
